The Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) plans to upgrade markets in Illela, Bidinga, and Gada Local Government Areas to international standards to boost economic activities in Sokoto State. This was announced in a statement by RAAMP’s Communication Officer, Malam Nura Bello, on Friday in Sokoto.

The upgrade program will include amenities such as toilets, lighting, improved access roads, storage facilities, and water infrastructure. The goal is to enhance agricultural development and stimulate economic growth in the region.

Bello mentioned that RAAMP has conducted meetings with market management teams, local government officials, community leaders, consultants, and the Federal Project Management Unit. These meetings focused on mobilizing stakeholders for the enhancement of existing rural markets.

Bello emphasized the importance of stakeholder support for the project’s success and the implementation of sustainable plans. He assured that no trader would lose their space after the upgrade, highlighting the project’s potential to boost market transactions and the economic status of the local people. (NAN)
